Comarca Festival 2023

The pyramids of Teotihuacan serve as the perfect stage for the Comarca Festival 2023.

It’s highly likely that when J.R.R. Tolkien wrote The Lord of the Rings, he didn’t envision it becoming such a spectacular phenomenon in popular culture. After all, it is an epic fantasy novel written by a philologist, focusing on the Third Age of the Sun in Middle-earth, a fictional place inhabited by humans and other anthropomorphic races such as fantastic creatures, hobbits, elves, witches and wizards.

But that’s how the world rewards great creations, and nowadays, this novel has millions of followers who adore the epic journey of Frodo Baggins, a hobbit from the Shire, in his quest to destroy the mesmerizing Ring that caused so much trouble in Middle-earth.

The inspiration

The Comarca Festival 2023 draws inspiration from this incredible Tolkien story, allowing fans to come together and immerse themselves in a world filled with wizards, dwarves, elves, hobbits, orcs, and many more characters, this time in Aztec lands, and as an extra treat, in Teotihuacan.

The majestic pyramids of Teotihuacan frame this festival where you can witness hobbit dances, listen to Celtic music, enjoy an orc show, explore a magical and artisanal bazaar, witness fantasy performances, and discover many other surprises throughout the event.

As this is the festival’s second edition, there will be a camping area available, giving attendees the opportunity to fully experience the event for an entire day. We suggest dusting off your best costume of your favorite J.R.R. Tolkien character from the books or even the movies, as there will be a Cosplay contest.
