Aztlán Parque Urbano

First Look at Aztlán Park and Latin America’s Largest Ferris Wheel
Aztlán will feature mechanical and interactive attractions, as well as entertainment and cultural areas representing Mexico City.
Aztlán is the name of the upcoming amusement park that will replace Chapultepec Fair. It will include mechanical and interactive attractions, stages, and exhibitions, as well as entertainment and cultural zones, food and beverage areas, and souvenir shops.
Aztlán will take the place of Chapultepec Fair, which closed down after an accident on September 28, 2019, in which two people lost their lives.
The new Aztlán Park
The new entertainment center will have an investment of 3.6 billion pesos and aims to position itself as “a fun tribute to Mexico City.” Its name was chosen in honor of the origin of the Mexica civilization, the founders of Mexico City.
In the future, Aztlán aims to become one of the best amusement parks in the world. According to the project presented, the new amusement park will not only include mechanical rides but also recreational spaces that incorporate culture, history, and entertainment.
The mechanical attractions will be divided as follows: extreme rides, moderate rides, children’s rides, and skill games. Among them, the “Rueda de los barrios” (Wheel of the Neighborhoods) stands out, a 50-meter-tall ride that will offer a panoramic view of Chapultepec and Mexico City.
The roller coaster will disappear, and its structure will be repurposed for other projects. Meanwhile, the interactive attractions will have names such as “Vuelo en el tiempo” (Flight through Time), “Viaje a Tenochtitlán” (Journey to Tenochtitlán), “Máscara vs. Cabellera” (Mask vs. Hair), and “Plaza de los muralistas” (Plaza of the Muralists). The park will also build stages for exhibitions, like the “Foro Yolotl” (Yolotl Forum) and the “Teatro Coltín” (Coltín Theater).
Environmental arrangements
The place will have green areas with waterfalls and fountains, cultural pavilions, a panoramic walk, and “Avenida Chilango” (Chilango Avenue), as well as a site called “Xochitlán.” Regarding food and souvenirs, visitors can explore the “Mercado Chilango” (Chilango Market), “Los chidos: restaurantes icónicos” (The Cool Ones: Iconic Restaurants), and “Mexicarritos” (Mexicarts), as well as the “Tianguis Contemporáneo” (Contemporary Market), “El Imexinario” (The Imaginary), and the “tienda de recuerdos” (souvenir shop).
We hope that Aztlán, which means “place of herons” in Nahuatl, will aim to connect the roots of pre-Hispanic Mexico with the natural environment of Chapultepec.
The comedy tent will feature the Teatro Coltin, which will serve as a prelude-museum in tribute to the comedic actors of the golden age of Mexican cinema. Through screens, visitors will be able to interact in real-time, with the help of the motion picture effect, with a Mexican actor, such as Cantinflas or Tin Tan.
Opening:
Aztlán Urban Park will open its doors on Friday, September 1st. The best part is that admission will be free, and only certain areas will have a cost, approximately $100 per person to access certain rides.
