Cacao For Everyone Festival

Gastronomic festivals are a must in Mexico City. To accompany the upcoming cold days, the 13th edition of the Cacao For Everyone Festival will take place.

The activities will be held at the Diego Rivera Anahuacalli Museum, located in the Coyoacán borough, from Thursday, November 2nd to Sunday, November 5th. This will be from 10 am to 7 pm. Admission will be free, but you should consider the cost of what you intend to consume.

Within the event, you will find cocoa-based products and even Mexican snacks. And considering the dates, why not? “Pancito de muerto” (bread of the dead). Cold chocolate, throw it in the river! On the other hand, you can accompany your dishes with artisanal drinks for sipping. We recommend trying the cocoa atole and the chocolate filled with mole.

Workshops will be offered, and there will be conferences with invited producers and researchers. The aim is to preserve the gastronomic legacy in the country and highlight the importance of cocoa in traditional cuisine. In these sessions, you will have the opportunity to learn more about the topic and interact with the culinary processes used to prepare this “food of the Gods.” Similarly, you can enjoy live music and browse through craft vendor stalls.

Few things are more Mexican than cocoa…

The origin of cocoa dates back to pre-Hispanic civilizations, particularly the Aztecs and Mayans. They considered cocoa a sacred beverage and even used it in religious ceremonies and rituals.

It is worth mentioning that nowadays, cocoa has been modernized and mixed with other ingredients such as cinnamon and chocolates. Meanwhile, within the country, it has become the masterful touch in recipes like mole poblano.
