Historical Walks in October

These are the Historical Walks in October that the city offers for free. Dare to explore your city from a historical perspective with expert guides; it will be an interesting and unforgettable journey. Like every Sunday, all Historical Walks are free and start at 10:45 am.

It is well known that our City of Mexico is a destination abundant in historical sites, which provide it with an identity within the cultural tapestry that constitutes it. This is why the Ministry of Culture created the Historical Walks initiative, a project aimed at promoting the cultural heritage that surrounds the city through original and in-depth guided tours.

These tours take place every Sunday of each month. They are walks where experts embark on a journey through the living history of the capital. During the upcoming Sundays, attendees will discover the legends, anecdotes, and characters that have shaped the cultural idiosyncrasy defining Mexico City.

Between Art and Memory

The Sunday walk on October 8th holds particular historical importance as it visits two sites of great symbolic significance in October: the Tlatelolco Cultural Center and Tecpan de Tlatelolco. Important tragedies occurred here throughout Mexico’s history, even before New Spain. If you want to learn all the details, go to the corner of Eje Central Lázaro Cárdenas and Flores Magón in Tlatelolco at 10:45 am.

Historical Walks in October: the Color of Watermelons

On October 15th, we will have a very cultural and natural tour. It will take place in Chapultepec Forest, where we will visit two museums, the Museum of Modern Art and the Tamayo Museum, in addition to the Chapultepec Botanical Garden. Undoubtedly, this visit will explore architecture and space. We are particularly excited about this tour. The meeting point is on Paseo de la Reforma, right in front of the Museum of Modern Art.

Sentinels of Our History

We return to Chapultepec, but this time, instead of art, we will explore history. We will visit the Chapultepec Castle, the Site Museum and Visitor Center, and the History Gallery of the El Caracol Museum. These are three very important and beautiful museums. How much do you know about their collections and architecture? Well, here you can learn all about them in detail. The meeting point is on October 22nd at the Site Museum, right at the base of the ascent to Chapultepec Castle.

Historical Walks in October: Armies of Faith and Justice

War and faith often go hand in hand more than we would like to admit. This time, we will visit the Cavalry Museum and the Temple of Our Lady of Mercy of the Huertas. These are not very common places in Mexico City, so we are glad that the Historical Walks are including them. It will be on October 29th, and the meeting point is on Calzada de México-Tacuba and Felipe Carrillo Puerto, Popotla neighborhood.”
